Sir,
With reference to your despatch No.30 of
the 2nd.ultimo I have the honour to inform you that as there
is a third grant-in-aid to be recommended to you in respect
of the St.Joseph's College, concerning which I am addressing
you in a separate despatch, the funds availble out of the vote
of $ 26,220 in this year's Estimates admit only of a grant of
$ 515 to the Church Missionary Society in respect of the new
School-house at Fairlea, and of 1235 to the London Mission-
ary Society in aid of the building of a Training Home for
Chinese Girls.
As the balance of the Vote will not be
sufficient to pay in full the sum of half the cost of build-
ings in the two cases already approved, and that of St.Joseph's
College, a pro rata reduction has been made in each case, in
accordance with the regulations.
The recommendation of a grant to St.Joseph's
